From Studio to Side-Table: A First Look at Our Botanical Prototypes

From Studio to Side-Table: A First Look at Our Botanical Prototypes

There is something incredibly grounding about the smell of fresh coffee and the strike of a match. Since we launched, we’ve been tucked away in the studio, experimenting with how to bring a bit more of the "outside" into your living room.

Today, we’re pulling back the curtain on two projects currently in the "Lab" phase: our Botanical Soy Candles and our Signature Resin Vessels.

The Botanical Soy Series: Nature, Encapsulated

Our goal was simple: a candle that looks as good unlit as it does flickering on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.

We’ve been working with 100% natural soy wax, known for its clean, slow burn and creamy finish. But the real stars are the botanicals. We are currently trialling ways to embed real foliage—ferns, petals, and dried herbs—directly into the wax.

Safety is, of course, our priority. Each prototype features a reinforced metal sustainer at the base. This ensures that as the wick reaches the end of its journey, the flame extinguished safely, protecting your surfaces while leaving the preserved foliage beautifully intact in the remaining wax "shell."

The Clear Resin Vessel: Clarity & Character

Parallel to the candles, we’ve been perfecting what we simply call The Vessel. Constructed from a high-grade, UV-stable resin, these pieces are designed to be heirloom-quality. We’ve all seen resin that yellows over time in the sun; we’ve specifically sourced a compound that stays "gallery clear," ensuring the greenery suspended inside remains vibrant and sharp.

Whether you use it as a sanctuary for your keys, a resting place for jewellery, or even as a more "traditional" tray (it’s remarkably durable), it’s a heavy, tactile piece of functional art.

Why Aren’t They For Sale Yet?

"To be fair," they look amazing already. But we aren’t quite ready to hit the "dispatch" button.

We are currently running "burn-to-edge" tests on the soy wax and monitoring the long-term curing of the resin. At Coffee & Biscuits, we believe if it isn't good enough for our own coffee tables, it isn't ready for yours.

These prototypes may eventually launch as a "Lab Label" drop—an ultra-limited run of the very first successful batches.
